Fixing bikes and riding bikes
I work  at Trikes and Bikes. See more about that on my 'cycle service & sales' page (click).

If you live locally to me and you find it difficult to get your bike to a bike shop for repair or servicing I may be able to help. We have a local workshop and some jobs can be done at your house. I'm Cytech qualified to build and service bicycles. Just get in touch with me through this website.

Bike2Life
a community cycle project

Picture
I am part of the Bike2Life Community Cycle Project based in Four Oaks.
We help people by offering a free/low cost service to repair simple bicycle problems and help people learn how to fix these themselves.
We also help people learn to ride bicycles and adult tricycles and have a number of these that people can ride.
We have some second bicycles for sale.
We are active every Monday in Four Oaks and on two Saturdays each month in Aldridge and Four Oaks.
The best way to find out more is to follow us on Facebook - click this link

ice trikes

Picture
Anne and I have recently become recumbent trike riders. We ride ice Adventure 26" trikes (see ice trikes website here). Mine is the HD (slightly larger) in green and Anne's is the regular HD but with e-assist in blue.
We are learning to love riding these and have a couple of short videos to show you what they look like in action.

Cycle to the Sea
In 2018 & 2019 I led a sponsored, 100 mile, one way cycle ride from the West Midlands to the coast of North Wales. It was a small, social ride raising a bit of money for a charity of which I'm a trustee.
It had to be cancelled in 2020 due to Covid but I'm hoping it will happen again in the future on a slightly amended route.

I've ridden the C2C route 4 times using a farm in Kirkoswald as a base.

It looks like the Keswick Threlkeld path has been restored after the bridges were washed out in 2015. That will be great to see the next time we go

My local rides
My local riding area extends around Cannock, Lichfield, Tamworth... that sort of general area north of the West Midlands conurbation. I'm very easy to find on Strava, Garmin Connect and Ride with GPS tracking platforms. So if you're new to the area and want some ideas for rides out and some groups to ride with, drop me a line.

11 miles on (and just off) the northern end of Cannock Chase.
Mostly rough trail riding with some lane and canal towpath. Needs a mountain bike.

A day out on purpose built trails and quiet lanes. A few challenging climbs with rewarding views. Click here for more.

Rutland Ride
Lanes & Water

Picture
A long ride around Rutland, Includes some steeper 'slopes' quiet lanes and country villages.

Quantock Hills
I had a great day out riding on the Quantock Hills in Somerset. The climbs are stupidly hard in places and I shoved the bike up a few including one long hillside that was unrideable. But the hilltop moor riding and the descents were well worth the effort.
Here are some links to videos and there will be more on my YouTube page (user peatvdb).
